HSTA-R Council Polled – Gives Overwhelming Support

July 28, 2011
L to R: A Mortemore (sec), M Akiona (vp) W Joseph (pres) L Shimizu (tre)

Over the past two days your Hawaii Island District Council members were polled to see if they were in favor of supporting the August 1st sign making at the ILWU Hall and the August 2nd demonstration activity directed towards our current governor.

Since I have a personal bias towards doing these two activities I relegated authority to our vice president, Marlyn Akiona, to conduct the council poll.

Ms. Akiona reported that she personally contacted 16 council members and 14 voted in favor of supporting the activity and 2 opposed.

I am humbled by the overwhelming support of our council as we join with our members in sending a loud, clear message to our governor.

Contact me at should you want to be included in these activities and wear your HSTA-Retired tee shirts!

Wayne “Big Dog” Joseph  President, HSTA-R  Hawaii Island District
