The Best Governor We Never Had

The following is an editorial and is not intended to take any position on the current or future political outlook of Hawai’i State politics.

Recently I had the pleasure of speaking to one of the most honest individuals that ever served in public office, Harry Kim.

Kim and I spoke on a variety of topics, including politics, and he pointed out that voters make a big mistake when they elect someone who wants to serve because they are power hungry.

Kim spoke highly of teachers and was angry that they are being used as a means to balance the state budget.  He was especially disturbed when I told him that the current administration desired to strip retirees of their benefits, something that he would have never considered should he had been our governor.

Kim’s health deteriorated while he served as Mayor of Hawai’i Island for eight years, but he also told me that today he feels better than he has during the past 10 years.

“I feel so good today that I’m looking for a job,” Kim said.

Does that mean Mr. Kim might be interested in running for Governor?

Thanks for sharing I feel the same way about him.
Great story in todays Tribune Herald.
I always loved Harry as the head of Civil Defense and as our Mayor!
An honest politician is very very rare to find.
So glad to know he is in top shape.
    Stay well Mr. Kim
