  • HSTA-R website has about 20 hits a day.  Send pictures, announcements, etc. to Wayne to put up on the website.
  • Blog address is HSTAR Big Island.
  • Next week Friday West Hawaii will debut the new HSTA-R ti shirt with a new design by Lorraine Hora.  The shirts will be debuted at the Annual Meeting in Hilo on February 10.   Creative Arts is printing at a cost of $10 a shirt.  If there is a second printing it will cost $7 a shirt.

Committee Reports:       Newsletter and Elections : Lorraine Hora reported December/January newsletter was sent out mid December. Contents are now posted on State website.  There is a March 25 deadline for articles for the next newsletter.  Lorraine also reported that there are three openings for elected Council-At-Large members.  Nominees are Cynthia Niyati Brown, Muriel Nishimoto and Betty Ann Yoshimura.   Thee are seven openings for HSTAR State Delegate Assembly.  Nominees are Cynthia Niyati Brown, Joyce Hirata, Lorraine Hora, Sally Waitt, Myrna Watanabe, Joe Tanaka, Helen Tanaka, Betty Ann Yoshimura, Karlen Ono and Virginia Halliday.  Holdovers are Jo Ann Iwane, Lois Shimizu, Arleen Yoshimura and Bettye Wakabayashi.  Voting will be at the Annual Meeting.

COLA:  Joe Tanaka was not present so no report was given.

Pre Retirement Cadre:  Arleen Yoshimura reported meeting of the cadre will be on February 23 for an evaluation meeting.  There were 12 sessions total.  Hilo Chapter presentation was okay but it was combined with their “Thank you” meeting so there were people who were not involved in this subject as well as those who are.  This can be distracting.  Kohala is on hold because the Uniserv can’t get it going.   West Hawaii had one for Konawaena Complex and Jo Ann Iwane reported that it was standing room only.  Suggestion was made to add Jo Ann Iwane (West Hawaii) to the Pre Retirement Cadre reporting.

Aloha Committee: Gayle Ito thanked all for the refreshments that were brought.  Next meeting will be on March 29.
