Jo Ann and Elbert Iwane Go Cruising

November 3, 2010
Fun cruise vacation for Jo Ann and Elbert Iwane

Kona retiree Jo Ann Iwane and her husbad, Elbert, recently returned from a 7-day cruise to Canada and New England aboard the Norwegian Dawn cruise ship.  After sailing from New York Harbor, they visited Halifax, Nova Scotia, and St. John, New Brunswick, in Canada as well  Bar Harbor, Maine, Boston, and Newport, Rhode Island.

“The weather was great with sunny skies and mild fall weather everywhere we went. The fall leaves were just changing in many area” Jo Ann said.

The highlight for Jo Ann was the lobster roll and fresh blueberry pie in Bar Harbor…” it was delicious!” she said

They flew to LA after their cruise to visit with Jo Ann’s 5-month-old grandson, Logan Katsuji Miraglia, in Long Beach.  Upon returning home to Kona, Jo Ann and Elbert are busy picking coffee on their little farm in the heart of the Kona coffee growing region.

HSTA-R retirees are encouraged to send their vacation photos with a brief discription of their trip to HSTA-R President, Wayne “Big Dog” Joseph to be included in this web site blog which is exclusively made for those retirees who live on the Big Island.

Contact the Big Dog at

It sounds like you had a Blast! Reading about the lobster roll and blueberry pie watered my mouth. I noted that shaka sign that Elbert displayed. I’ll look forward to seeing more photos when you bring them to our West Hawaii Club meeting.
