Vote NO on appointed Board of Education

October 12, 2010
CAMPAIGN 2010                             On November 2, Hawaii voters will be asked:

“Shall the Board of Education be changed to a board appointed by the Governor, with the advice and consent of the Senate, as provided by law?

Vote NO on Appointed Board of Education

HERE’S WHY:

  • An elected Board of Education reinforces our right as citizens to vote.  An Appointed Board of Education takes away the people’s voice.
  • Governor Lingle first wanted 36 furlough days. The independent BOE wanted less, and they were able to reach an agreement with teachers on only 17 furlough days.
  • If the Governor is allowed to appoint members to the Board of Education, the appointments will be based on politics, not on student needs.

WHAT YOU CAN DO:    10-10-10
Tell 10 family members, friends, or neighbors why to VOTE NO on an Appointed Board.  Ask them to tell 10 to VOTE NO!
